The Old Winery Villa in Santorini is unique in every way possible. This old 15^th Century wine and tsipouro factory pays a striking tribute to the local architectural features while incorporating all modern amenities into the villa, including 2 swimming pools and a Jacuzzi. The restoration work simply took years, as the focus was on the meticulous preservation of these unique features.

The architect who undertook this project outsourced a lot of the renovation work to local craftsmen in order to preserve all that had to be preserved at any cost. Old machinery of the factory were used as centrepieces, both in the interior and the exterior design of the property. Moreover, eco-friendly materials with mat finishings were used, adding a more industrial loft design layout feel, thus creating a historical, yet inviting atmosphere.

Interior

The villa offers unbeatable comfort and effortless elegance. Elements of the factory have been incorporated into the property and a huge piece of machinery stands like a magnificent sculpture as the centerpiece, in one of the numerous living rooms.

The interior spaces differ. Some are cave like (traditional Santorinian ‘Yposkafa’ architectural style) and hide their form, while others are expressed as cubic volumes with splendid high ceilings, capturing the natural bright blue light.

High end luxury amenities compliment all areas of the villa. Whether it is the organic mattresses by Coco Mat, the natural products of Korres, the amazing sound system by BOSE or the complimentary services that come with the villa, to name but a few, this is definitely one of the most inviting villas of the island, all available for your own pleasure.

Exterior

The exterior spaces of the villa are equally generous and impressive. Unique choices for alfresco arrangements are offered throughout the outdoor spaces.

Two impressive pool terraces, protected courtyards, a private Jacuzzi and panoramic views of the island are the basic elements in creating fantastic memories, after choosing to stay here.

Whereabouts

The Old Winery Villa is located in the traditional picturesque village of Pyrgos (meaning tower), literally a ‘no cars-allowed’ zone.  The village is built amphitheatrically on a hill that offers magnificent views of the island in almost all directions. It is worth noting that it was once the first capital of the island. Its name was Kallisti (meaning the beautiful one) at the time. Need we say more?

The villa is situated in the “Voreina” (Northern) region, beneath the remains of the Venetian castle called ‘’Kasteli’’ located at the top of the hill. This area of the island has maintained all its traditional elements, boasting medieval narrow streets, fortified walls, and hidden passages, all combined with the unique Cycladic local architecture.

Pyrgos boasts a rich history and today is home to many taverns and wine bars, galleries and boutiques, not to mention amazing restored buildings. Some are available for visitors to book, and experience life here just as the locals did for centuries. All in all, Pyrgos is therefore a village rich in history and culture, widely celebrated and adored both by locals and visitors alike .

Access

Guests will enjoy complete and exclusive access to all areas of the villa, its private terraces, the two swimming pools, and the private Jacuzzi during their stay.

You can therefore choose to relax indoors or outdoors and enjoy the fantastic views in full comfort and privacy, at any time.

We strongly recommend using a vehicle, rented or privately-owned, to enjoy the island of Santorini to its fullest potential.

Taxis could also be utilised, though may be scarce at times during specific parts of the season. In general, enjoying full travel independence either way, is a known ingredient in order to have a fantastic time in Santorini.

Important Notes

• We would kindly ask that you respect the neighbours at all times. We urge your attention to the following ‘quiet hours’ enforced by law; during which you must pay special attention; so that there is no disturbing or excessive noise coming from the villa:
  • Summer quiet hours (Apr.1-Sep30): 3PM-5.30PM & 11PM-7AM
  • Winter quiet hours (Oct.1-Mar.31): 3.30PM-5.30PM & 10PM-7.30AM
• Upon arrival guests must display a valid form of identification (ID or passport). Also, a short-term rental agreement must be signed as required by current Greek law under the Greek taxation system. Guests will not be able to check in if this requirement is not satisfied.
• The villa’s refurbishment and interior design was constructed utilising the finest materials. We expect you to respect it accordingly. Any damages will incur the relevant charges. In case these are not covered by the deposit held, additional charges will be claimed.
• A range of services can also be arranged on request: Daily cleaning and/or cooking staff, assistance regarding use of the facilities, Transportation & Chauffeur Services, Boat Charters and Trips and other Tailor Made Services. Please just ask.
• Due to its layout, this property can be split into two totally separate and private villas: Villa Sena and Villa Lucia. Villa Lucia can also be split into three separate and private villa: Villa Inos, Villa Mela and Villa Vinios.
